E.A.S.T Principles

The E.A.S.T. Framework

At Compass Rehabilitation, care is an active process.

It’s structured, strategic, and built around progress.

Evaluation
We don’t guess. We assess how you move, how you load, and how your daily life contributes to your symptoms. Pain is rarely random — there’s always a pattern.

Advising
The first part is awareness of the nature of the problem. Next is giving you the tools to address it.

Strategizing
Your plan won’t be generic. It’s built around your goals, your workload, and your capacity. Rehab has to fit real life.

Tailoring
As you improve, your plan evolves. If something isn’t progressing, we adjust. Adaptation is the goal.

It’s about building capacity so you don’t need ongoing treatment.

Meet Dr. Alex Hueston, DC

Dr. Alex Hueston, Chiropractor

Alex practices performance-based chiropractic care focused on restoring function, not just reducing pain.

His approach blends movement assessment, strength principles, and rehabilitation strategy to help patients build capacity and reduce reliance on passive treatment.

The goal isn’t short-term relief.
It’s long-term resilience.

Alex graduated in 2019 with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from University of Western States in Portland, OR. Before pursuing chiropractic he earned a degree in Human Kinetics from Trinity Western University in Langley, B.C. and gained experience as a student athletic therapist, student massage therapist, certified personal trainer, volunteer running coach and national strength and conditioning coach.

Growing up in Delta, B.C. he discovered his passion for the mountains and ocean, so Vancouver Island seemed like a natural choice to continue his adventure and to establish his career in health and wellness. Growing up playing hockey Alex has spent time working closely with Cowichan Capitals Junior A hockey team. When Alex is not in the clinic you will likely find him running on the local trails.

Movement-First Approach

Alex’s background in Human Kinetics, strength and conditioning, and movement assessment allows him to bridge the gap between rehabilitation and performance.

His training includes:

  • SFMA Level 1 & 2 (Selective Functional Movement Assessment)

  • FMS-QS Certified

  • Functional Range Conditioning (FR) Certified

  • Concussion Management & Vestibular Rehabilitation

  • Lumbar Spinal Stenosis Rehabilitation

  • TMJ Hands-On Skill Training
